Crust breakers
A crust breaker is a solid cylinder installed on the tip end of an automated point feeder shaft. It is designed to effectively break the hard crust in the aluminium production bath. The crust, which is formed due to the low temperature on the surface of the bath, needs to be broken every 80 to 90 seconds allowing for continued alumina addition.
