This autumn, Storvik carried out a new delivery to a Norwegian aluminum smelter.
The new delivery consisted of producing a crust breaker spikes in a highly heat-resistant steel. The crust breaker is used to break the crust that forms on top of the liquid metal during aluminum production. The crust breaker is welded with our robot at Smia.
In robotic welding, the welding process is automated using robots that perform and control the welding based on a program that can be adapted to the project in question. Robotic welding is a very advanced version of automated welding, where machines do the welding, while welders still control and monitor the process.
This has been an exciting and fun project to take part in and we are very satisfied with the result of the finished product, says Stian Blåsberg, Foreman at Smia.
