Storvik is delighted to announce that Cast products has received an order from Kubikenborg Aluminium for 30 pieces of new type of Sow Moulds, the value of the order is over a million NOK.
After last autumn site visit at Kubal in Sundsvall, Sweden, it was identified a possible need for Sow Moulds at the Casthouse. And this week we sealed the project with an order for 30 pieces of Sow Moulds used in Kubal`s manual casting line at the Casthouse. The Sow Moulds are used for production of standard LME 680kg Aluminium sows.
Kubal has been a customer of Storvik in several years, and this relationship and cooperation is important for both parties. Kubal knows about Storvik`s focus on quality, improvement and reduction of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
Manager of Storvik Iceland, Helgi Magnusson has been the project owner and has also designed the new Sow Moulds, and has this comment regarding this project:
We have been working hard to identify and develop new products to suit our customer’s needs, The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the demand for aluminium billets to be severely reduced, which leaves many of our customers in search of a alternative casting solution. The easy solution for many is to put up a simple manual sow casting line for production of standard sized sows fitting for the LME market, the new design sow moulds for Kubal is a relatively low cost consumable which can be fitting for many other customers. The design of the pattern for this new mould makes it versatile, we can produce the same basic mould with forklift pockets, (for emptying and handling) or without the pockets, depending on the customers needs and local setup.
We are also satisfied that these Sow Moulds will be produced in our own foundry RKL in Czech Republic. To expand our portfolio with a new product in our own foundry, is beneficial for both parties.
